For the first time in its history, Mount Assisi Academy earned top honors as the GCAC White Division Tennis Tournament champions.
Mount Assisi soared to the title over Resurrection and Queen of Peace with a score of 25. In addition, several students achieved All-Conference honors.
Competitors Emy Petraityte and Maggie Liston, both of Lemont, attained first and second place, respectively, in the singles tournament. Both also have the distinguished honor of being named All-Conference.
The doubles teams of Mary Kate Feldner (Orland Park) and Margaret Sojka (Chicago) as well as Jackie Freeman (Homer Glen) and Katie Kokaska (Tinley Park) earned first place as well as the All-Conference title. Natalie Mateja (Chicago) and Taylor Krueger (Orland Hills) played doubles and achieved third place in the conference tournament.
“They rose to the occasion and played the best tennis this year,” Mount Assisi athletic director June VerSchave said. “I am so proud and excited for them and for Mount Assisi.”
