The threat of possible severe weather moving into the Chicago area is altering the schedule of overnight LaGrange Road closures in Orland Park, the village said Wednesday.
LaGrange Road won’t be closed between 135th and 143rd streets during the nighttime hours Wednesday or Thursday because of predicted high winds and snow forecast for the Chicago metro area Thursday evening, the village said.
The temporary closures are needed for crews to demolish the old Metra rail bridge spanning LaGrange Road. A new bridge was constructed in advance of the widening of the street from 131st to 179th streets.
LaGrange Road will be closed between 135th and 143rd streets from 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, from 10 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday, and from 8 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to Southwest Highway during the closures.
The village said overnight closures are expected to continue through next week, with demolition work scheduled to wrap up March 3.
