Dance center receives international honors

Updated: April 18, 2013 6:05AM

The American Dance Center staffs and student bodies in Orland Park and Homewood were chosen to represent Illinois and the United States in April at the 2013 Dance Excellence International Dance Festival in Los Angeles.

Dance center directors Jack and Kathleen Villari will be recognized for their dedication to dance at an awards banquet during the closing ceremonies of the weeklong event.

The Villaris will take a group of 15 dancers and their parents selected from the school’s EXCEL program to join other dancers from around the world.

Dance Excellence gathers the top professionals and master teachers from the entertainment industry and arts community to share with the dancers their time and expertise in dance, voice, acting, auditioning, television, feature films and production.

American Dance Center business manager Brian Villari and dance directors Maria and Tracey Villari also will attend.

The Villari family are known for the development of quality dance education and productions in the Chicago area.

American Dance Center, one of the largest schools of its kind in the Midwest and in its 43rd year in the Southland, has earned national and international recognition.

Fundraising efforts to cover costs for this event are under way.

Tax-deductible donations will be accepted in person at either studio location — 10464 W. 163rd Place, Orland Park; or 1933 Ridge Road, Homewood — or by mail to the nonprofit American Dance Center Ballet Co. office at 1037 Wingate Road, Olympia Fields, IL 60461.
