Community Sports Calendar (Central) for July 7, 2013

BASEBALL

Frankfort: Hickory Creek Middle School will hold baseball tryouts from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 5 to 7 at the school, 22150 116th Avenue. Two teams (maroon and gold) will be formed with seventh and eighth grade students as players. Attendance is required all three days. Southland: The High School Fall Baseball League will feature a network of leagues spanning from Chicago to Dayton, Ohio in the 2013 season. Leagues are open to kids who will be in high school in the fall. Leagues play on Sundays, beginning Aug. 25 and ending Oct. 13 with the HSFBL Championship Tournament in Indianapolis. Leagues will play a six-week regular season, followed by postseason tournaments and an All-Star Showcase. Fee: $225. Register by Aug. 4. Information: www.hsfbl.com.

BASKETBALL

Frankfort: The Bulls/Sox Academy will host a Bulls Summer Camp Monday to Friday at Chelsea School, 22265 S. 80th Ave. The camp is open to ages 6 to 12, with ages 6 to 8 meeting from 9 a.m. to noon and ages 9 to 12 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Fee: $199. Information: www.bullssoxacademy.com.

Orland Park: The Bulls/Sox Academy will host a Bulls Summer Camp from 8:30 to 11:30 July 15 to 19 at the Orland Park Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St. The camp is open to ages 6 to 12. Fee: $199. Information: www.bullssoxacademy.com.

FOOTBALL

New Lenox: Providence Catholic High School and coach Mark Coglianese will host a pair of camps, open to kids in grades four to eight, from July 15 to 19. The fundamental camp will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and the 7-on-7 passing camp will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. Fees: $100 for fundamental camp only; $135 for both camps. SOCCER

Mokena: The Mokena Park District will hold a United Soccer Academy recreational league, for boys and girls at the U8 to U14 levels, this fall beginning Aug. 19. Practices will be held Mondays to Thursdays with most games played Thursdays and Saturdays at local parks. Fees: $150 resident, $155 nonresident (includes T-shirts and awards). Register by Aug. 5. A United Soccer Academy mini-clinic, free for anyone registered for the league, will also be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at Fox Ridge Park, 19740 Telluride Ln. SOFTBALL

Mokena: The Mokena Park District is offering an adult men’s 12-inch softball league that will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sundays from Aug. 4 to Sept. 29 at Fox Ridge Park, 19740 Telluride Ln. Team rosters must consist of between 12 and 20 players. Cash prizes will be awarded to regular season and postseason winners. Fees: $500 resident, $525 nonresident per team. Register by July 20. VOLLEYBALL

Orland Park: Registration is open for Attack Volleyball Club’s summer camps. A beach volleyball camp will be held from Monday to Thursday at Centennial Park and two skill camps will be held at the Orland Park Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St.: one from July 15 to 19 and one from July 29 to August 1.
