Community Sports Calendar (Central) for Aug. 11, 2013

BASEBALL

Southland: The High School Fall Baseball League will feature a network of leagues spanning from Chicago to Dayton, Ohio in the 2013 season. Leagues are open to kids who will be in high school in the fall. Leagues play on Sundays, beginning Aug. 25 and ending Oct. 13 with the HSFBL Championship Tournament in Indianapolis. Leagues will play a six-week regular season, followed by postseason tournaments and an All-Star Showcase. Fee: $225. Register by Sunday. Information: www.hsfbl.com.

FOOTBALL

Mokena: The Mokena Park District is offering an adult men’s flag football 8-on-8 league that will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from Sept. 7 to Nov. 2 at Fox Ridge Park, 19740 Telluride Lane. Team rosters must consist of between 10 and 20 players. Cash prizes will be awarded to regular season and postseason winners. Fees: $600 resident, $625 nonresident per team. Register by Aug. 24. LACROSSE

Tinley Park: United Southland Lacrosse will hold tryouts for their elite fall/winter teams from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at Andrew High School, 9001 W. 171st St. Southland will field teams at the 11U, 13U and 15U levels. SOCCER

Frankfort: The Chicago Fire Juniors South staff will host an eight-week camp for beginner players, ages 4 to sixth grade, at Grand Prairie soccer fields, from Tuesday to Oct. 5. Two sessions will be offered for ages 4 to kindergarten: session one will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays; session two will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturdays. Kids in grades one to six will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Fees: $95 resident, $100 nonresident ($5 off for additional sibling). SOFTBALL

Southland: The Tinley Park Rockers will hold tryouts for the 2013-14 season at Ridgegate Field, 17001 94th Ave., Orland Hills. Levels 10U to 12U will try out from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. VOLLEYBALL

Mokena: The Mokena Park District will host four adult indoor coed volleyball leagues in the fall, beginning Sept. 9. The A-League (competitive) will play on Monday nights, the B-League (upper-intermediate) and C-League (lower-intermediate) on Tuesday nights and the D-League (recreational) on Wednesday nights. Matches will be played from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center, 10847 W. LaPorte Road. Team rosters must consist of between six and 12 players. Orland Park: The Orland Youth Association and Attack Volleyball Club will host their Fifth Annual Competitive Sunday Night Volleyball Fall League for experienced players (boys and girls) in grades four to eight. League play runs from Sept. 15 to Nov. 24. Games will be held at the Franklin Loebe Center or the Orland Sportsplex. Players register as an individual or a team.
