BASKETBALL

Orland Park: The Windy City Magic eighth-grade boys basketball travel team will hold tryouts for the 2013-14 season from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 and 16 at the Orland Park Sportsplex, 11351 W. 159th St. Information: www.windycitymagic.org.

Southland: The Southside Shooters will hold boys basketball tryouts and organizational meetings Friday at Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills. Fourth and fifth-graders will try out from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., sixth- graders from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and seventh- and eighth-graders from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. Information: Bill Finn, (708) 508-0170 or email coachfinn34@yahoo.com.

Southland: The Southside Shooters girls basketball team will start its fall session, “skills and scrimmages” at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Stagg High School in Palos Hills. CHEERLEADING

Mokena: The Mokena Park District is offering a Princess Pom and Cheer program on Tuesdays from Sept. 10 to Oct. 15 at the Recreation Program Center, 10925 W. LaPorte Road. Classes will meet from 11 to 11:45 a.m. or 12:15 to 1 p.m. The group is open to girls ages 4 to 6. Fees: (if registered by Sept. 3) $55 resident, $60 nonresident. VOLLEYBALL

Mokena: The Mokena Park District will host four adult indoor coed volleyball leagues in the fall, beginning Sept. 9. The A-League (competitive) will play on Monday nights, the B-League (upper-intermediate) and C-League (lower-intermediate) on Tuesday nights and the D-League (recreational) on Wednesday nights. Matches will be played from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center, 10847 W. LaPorte Road. Team rosters must consist of between six and 12 players. Orland Park: The Orland Youth Association and Attack Volleyball Club will host their Fifth Annual Competitive Sunday Night Volleyball Fall League for experienced players (boys and girls) in grades four to eight. League play runs from Sept. 15 to Nov. 24. Games will be held at the Franklin Loebe Center or the Orland Sportsplex. Players can register as an individual or as a team. Orland Park: Attack Volleyball Club’s boys club, CounterAttack, will hold tryouts from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Franklin Loebe Center for high schoolers ages 15 to 18. CounterAttack’s 14U team will hold tryouts from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Franklin Loebe center.
