The Orland Park Veterans Commission will hold its 14th Annual Steak Fry for all Orland Park veterans at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave.
“We congratulate the village’s veterans commission for hosting this event every year for the last 14,” Mayor Dan McLaughlin said in a news release. “This is a great opportunity for Orland Park veterans to gather for a meal and enjoy each other’s company.”
Tickets are $10 and include dinner and beverages, limit two per person. Beer, wine and soft drinks are included in the price. Tickets are available at the cashier’s window at the Orland Park village hall, 14700 S. Ravinia Ave.
“The steak fry dates well back into military history,” veterans commission chairman Phil Bell said in the release. “When serving overseas, it was always a treat to be able to sit down and enjoy a steak. This is why the veterans commission does this each year, to bring back the camaraderie of enjoying a meal with the members of your unit.”
The steak fry is open to Orland Park veterans or nonresidents with a membership card for an Orland Park military organization, such as Orland Memorial American Legion Post No. 111 or Orland-Palos Reber-Tesmond VFW No. 2604.
The event will feature military memorabilia from the collection of John Holzinger, a longtime collector of military artifacts. The display is open to steak fry attendees only.
Tickets must be bought in advance. For more information, contact Gail Blummer at (708) 403-6203.
