Gabby Christie and Dani Amador, both players for the Attack Volleyball Club from Orland Park, have been named to the Windy City Power League All-Region Team.
Players were chosen by coaches and club directors during the 2013 season for overall impact, sportsmanship, leadership and a passion to compete.
“It is a great honor to be named to the Great Lakes all-regional team,” said Christie, a sophomore at Sandburg High School in Orland Park.
“Receiving this award makes me want to work and push more, not only for myself but also for all the people who believed in me.
“I especially thank my club and my club coach, Jason Baglia, as well as my high school coaches, Kevin Irvin and Coach Krywanie, for constantly teaching me new things.”
Amador is a freshman at Sandburg.
“This award means a lot to me because it confirms that my hard work over many years is paying off,” she said.
“I would like to thank my coaches, teammates and family for making me the player I am today.”
The girls were honored during a ceremony at Lewis University.
In addition to the All-Region awards, 10 Attack players were named WCPL scholar athletes.
They are Orland Park’s Megan Higgins, Rachel Vetter and Alley Carey; Tinley Park’s Rachel Boden; Frankfort’s Caitlyn Cornwell and Stephanie Stec; Lemont’s Mackenna Grelck; Oak Lawn’s Colleen Murphy; Summit’s Laure’n Johnson and Peotone’s Allison Winkelman.
