Moraine Valley Community College, 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills, will host Family Time Magazine’s 2013 Autism and Special Needs Seminar from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 16 on campus in Building M.
The seminar will include speakers throughout the day discussing the latest research, cutting-edge therapies, strategies for coping, networking opportunities and more.
The keynote speaker is Brian King, best-selling author, speaker and life coach. King’s “Perfect Moments in Relationships” has been a No. 1 best seller on Amazon.
King is a cancer survivor, an adult with dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and the father of three sons on the autism spectrum. Despite these difficulties, King has emerged as a master at turning problems into possibilities, according to a news release about his appearance at the school.
His presentation is focused on Parenting with Purpose. King discusses a parenting approach that works specifically with a child on the autism spectrum.
The Autism and Special Needs Seminar is approved for continued education units and continuing professional development units, as well as early intervention training credential hours.
There also will be vendors tables showcasing products and services for those with autism and other developmental disabilities.
