Catholic Schools Supt. Sister Mary Paul McCaughey and the Archdiocese of Chicago Board of Catholic Schools recently announced the recipients of the 2014 Distinguished Service Awards, which honor educators and Catholic schools in Cook and Lake counties, according to a press release from the archdiocese.
Distinguished Service awardees among those at Southland elementary schools included Rebecca Salabura (St. Cajetan School, Chicago), Karen Zerante (St. Agnes School, Chicago Heights), Marie Lindsey (St. Benedict School, Blue Island), Nancy Ramig (St. Michael School, Orland Park), Mariclare Kmiec (Incarnation School, Palos Heights), and Renae Lewis (Christ Our Savior School, South Holland).
Distinguished Service awardees at Southland high schools included Julianne Alvarado (Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, Chicago), Mary Ann Cook (St. Laurence High School, Burbank) and Kristine Owens (Queen of Peace High School, Burbank).
Among the eight Archdiocesan schools awarded with the U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School Award was one from the Southland, St. Michael School in Orland Park, according to the release.
