Coroner: Teen dead in Homer Twp. pool had heart condition

Updated: August 3, 2011 12:24PM

A Chicago teenager who was found dead Sunday in a swimming pool in Homer Township had a previously undiagnosed cardiac condition that may have contributed to his death, according to the Will County Coroner’s office.

Wesley D. Houseton, 18, was found unresponsive in 9 feet of water at the bottom of a pool at a residence in the 18000 block of Haas Road, the coroner’s office said.

The Mokena Fire Protection District transported Houseton to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead at 3:33 p.m. Sunday, the coroner’s office said.

An autopsy Monday revealed the cardiac condition, the coroner’s office said.

Will County Sheriff’s police are investigating.
