Yamaha officials visit  Central band students

Representatives from Japanese-based Yamaha Instrument Co. recently visited with band students at Central Middle School in Tinley Park.

The representatives were sent to observe high-level music programs in America, and Central’s band was one of the programs chosen.

Officials observed the eighth-grade band, interviewed the band director Jason Freeland on music education in America; and conducted a question-and-answer session with students.

The representatives made their school visits while in town to attend the International Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. The clinic is the largest music education conference in America.
