Jubril Adekoya, a 6-foot-6 junior from Andrew basketball, is being recruited by several Division I schools, including Valparaiso, Wichita State, Akron, Northwestern and DePaul. A graduate of Prairie View Middle School in Tinley Park, he’s averaging 14.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

You fractured your tibia and knee joint in eighth grade. Would you say you’re 100 percent recovered?

I believe so. My knee feels great. I don’t even think about it anymore.

You played on the varsity as a freshman. Compare your game now to back then.

I’m much more athletic and versatile. I feel like I can contribute anywhere on the court.

State title game. You’re in it. What team would you most like to beat for the championship? Why?

Simeon. They’re the most highly touted team around.

Andrew and Sandburg haven’t played each other during your varsity career. How excited are you to play them Feb. 14?

Oh, my goodness! I’m so excited. We owe them just from not being able to play them until my junior year.

If you could have your pick, what celebrity would you choose as your prom date?

Beyonce.

You’re on a deserted island. You could have an endless supply of one food. What would it be?

My mom’s spaghetti. It’s the greatest food on earth.

Stagg and Andrew has developed into quite a rivalry. Things got pretty heated during a game last season. What’s going on?

It started my freshman year. They were talking a little crazy and our seniors responded. It’s intense but respectful.

What’s been the key to meeting expectations?

Playing as hard as we can. If we play hard every night, the sky is the limit for us.

As told to Pat Disabato
