The Tinley Park High School Symphonic Band recently participated in the 41st annual University of Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival for the second consecutive year in the Class AA Division.

The band submitted an application and a recording in November in hopes of being selected to participate in the festival. The recording went to the audition recording judges, who then made the decision on the bands selected to play.

“This is the most prestigious festival for wind ensembles in the state of Illinois, honoring the best of the best concert bands in all classifications,” school officials said in a news release.

Classifications include Junior High/Middle School, Class A, Class AA and Class AAA.

The band played “Incidental Suite” by Claude T. Smith and “Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral” by Richard Wagner, arranged by Lucien Calliet.
