University of Illinois Extension master gardener Kate Bradley recently shared instructions on how to compost during the Care to Compost program at Tinley Park Public Library.

Bradley showed participants how to compost indoors using special worms, a simple plastic tub and some damp, shredded newspaper.

Bradley also explained the four requirements of outdoor composting: oxygen, moisture, green materials and brown materials.

Bradley passed around a bag of compost for the audience members to feel and smell.

Participants also had the chance to hold the worms.
