Area children took a break from the hot weather recently to “pluck a duck” from the fountain in Zabrocki Plaza during the Tinley Park Caribbean Block Party along Oak Park Avenue.

Pluck a Duck is sponsored by the nonprofit organization Together We Cope, a homeless prevention agency that assists south suburban residents in temporary crisis. Funds generated from Pluck a Duck directly support TWC’s programs and services.

“Pluck a Duck has become more than a fundraiser for Together We Cope,” said Karen Moran, fundraising coordinator. “It heightens the public’s awareness of all of the other programs we sponsor throughout the year to help south suburban families.”

Presently Together We Cope is involved in its annual Back to School campaign, which provides school supplies to the children of clients.
