News Digest: Water superintendent hired in Tinley Park

Updated: September 13, 2012 6:22AM

Village trustees have approved the appointment of Tim Morris as water superintendent, a post that was vacant since March 2011.

Morris, 30, has been a supervisor for five years with Illinois American Water Co. and also served for two years with Manhattan’s water department.

Morris will be in charge of the water and sewer division of the village’s public works department, overseeing a total of 500 miles of water and sewer lines.

Mayor Ed Zabrocki appointed him after a four-month nationwide search that attracted more than 50 applicants.

Mokena School District 159

Four Mokena residents have applied for a school board seat following the resignation of former board president John Troy.

Troy resigned July 23 to avoid any conflict of interest in applying to become the district’s business manager.

Seeking to fill the board vacancy are Jeff Regan, Bob Palumbo, Barry Cullum and Aaron Janik, an attorney who sought a board appointment in September 2011 after the resignation of Frank Ventura.

The board plans to appoint the new member at its Aug. 15 meeting.
