Tinley Park police were searching Tuesday for a man who robbed the First Midwest Bank located at 167th Street and 80th Avenue, according to a news release from the village.
The robbery occurred at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. The robber was described as about 6 feet tall, between 45 and 50 years old, and was wearing a gray hoodie and dark pants, the release said.
Tinley Park police said the offender did not use a weapon, and that the offender did not imply he had a weapon.
The offender was last seen on foot in the area of the bank, and Tinley Park police concentrated their search efforts there.
Police said there was no immediate danger to those living in the area, but that residents should report suspicious activity by calling 911.
Soon after the robbery was reported by police, a lockdown order was in place at Kirby School District 140 schools, but that has been lifted because police believe the suspect has left the area, a secretary at the district office said.
