FLOWER POWER
The 2013 Chicago Flower & Garden Show at Navy Pier, 600 E. Grand Ave., Chicago, closes March 17.
Mokena “self-taught” craftsman Casey Canady’s work is featured among the artistic gardens and landscape displays.
The founder of Custom Architectural Design, which will have a booth at the show, said he is excited about his second appearance at the event.
The show also features Garden Gallery & Studio clients’ re-creations of famous paintings.
These artists from the Tinley Park gallery include Nicholas Harris, who painted Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night”; Danielle Dato who painted Claude Monet’s “Branch of the Seine near Giverny”; Sophie Komperda, who painted Katsushika Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”; and Veronica Hein, who painted Keith Haring’s “Best Buddies.”
Show activities include seminars, floral arranging classes, how-to gardens, children’s activities and a garden gourmet stage featuring demos by local chefs.
Hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. March 15-16 and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. March 17. Tickets are $15-$17 or $5 for ages 4-12. Visit chicagoflower.com.
