Four people were busted over the weekend by New Lenox police for allegedly being involved in a drug ring selling heroin and unprescribed painkillers, police said.
Deputy Police Chief Robert Pawlisz said informants led police to monitor phone calls and make undercover buys during an investigation that lasted several weeks.
Brian Phelan, 27, of 7971 164th Place, Tinley Park, was arrested Wednesday after he brought heroin to a “confidential source,” Pawlisz said, adding that police searched Phelan’s residence after his arrest. Phelan was charged with delivery of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and vandalism.
Faraj Mohammad, 21, of 16531 Clover Lane, and Christine Bjornson, 43, of 17424 S. 94th Court, both of Tinley Park, were arrested Thursday when they met with an undercover officer to distribute a “large amount of Oxycotin,” Pawlisz said.
He said Mohammad is being held in the Will County Jail, while Bjornson was taken to Silver Cross Hospital for a medical issue unrelated to her arrest. Both are charged with delivery of drugs and participating in a criminal drug conspiracy.
On Friday, Edward Fugate, 48, of 21109 S. 80th Ave., Frankfort, was arrested on a charge of delivery of drugs after police made a purchase of Oxycodone, Pawlisz said.
