District 140 students part of honors band

Three middle school musicians from Kirby School District 140 recently performed with the Illinois Music Educators Association Honors Jazz Band at Rich South High School.
School officials said Jane Folliard (piano), Maria Szczasny (trumpet) and Liam Yore (drums) turned in stellar performances at the concert, which was conducted by two of the most respected music educators in Illinois, Bob Lark from DePaul University, and Doug Beach from Elmhurst College.
“Our students did an outstanding job,” said Kirby School District 140 band director Michael Szczasny. “They worked really hard, and it showed. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
