A south-suburban man already facing a slew of charges for allegedly terrorizing two women is in even more trouble now that police say he failed to register as a sex offender.
Will County prosecutors hit 31-year-old Porche D. Williams with 13 counts of violating Illinois’ sex offender registry laws, records show.
Park Forest Deputy Police Chief Mike McNamara said Williams had been living in his village for “a lengthy amount of time” but didn’t register for Illinois’ sex offender database.
Williams also owned several Web businesses, McNamara said, which investigators assumed he ran from his home there.
“Every violation they could charge him with they did,” McNamara said.
Williams is listed as “non-compliant” on Illinois’ sex offender database. Will County court records — which list a Steger address for Williams — show he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of criminal sexual abuse in 1998. He was charged in 2002 with one misdemeanor count of battery.
He’s now being held in Will County Jail in lieu of $5 million bail after his arrest in early November on 18 criminal counts, including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic battery and forcible detention.
Prosecutors said Williams terrorized two women, beat them and threatened to cut off their toes with a knife and cutting board.
He detained the women for hours while trying to find a missing drug safe, according to prosecutors. But Williams’ attorneys, Cosmo Tedone and Joel Murphy, have said Williams’ accusers have “definite credibility issues.”
Williams was indicted on the new charges late last week, records show, and he’s scheduled to return to court Jan. 23.
