Three Orland Park men in ICE custody after beating of tenant

Updated: January 19, 2012 10:58PM

Three Orland Park men are being held by immigration authorities after beating a neighbor last month at an apartment complex in the village, police said.

The 39-year-old man who was attacked and his wife told police that he went to a nearby apartment Dec. 22 to complain about loud music. Three men who reside there began punching and kicking the man in the hallway, causing minor injuries to his head and neck, police said.

Charged with battery were Isaac Flores-Cegueda, 45, 9038 Lunar Court, #305; and Carlos Sosme-Toto, 20; Cesar Gonzalez, 23; and Luis Gonzalez, 40, all of 9104 Orland Court, #305, according to police. They said Sosme-Toto, who initially identified himself as the son of Luis Gonzalez, also was charged with obstructing justice for giving police a phony name and birth date.

Sosme-Toto and Cesar Gonzalez told police the altercation began after the neighbor threatened to call immigration if they didn’t keep the noise down and then stuck his finger in Luis Gonzalez’s chest.

After their arrests, Luis Gonzalez tried to harm himself and was taken to a hospital, police said.

They said Sosme-Toto posted bond for all four men, but police detained them at the request of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which took them into custody as suspected illegal immigrants.

They are being held at a federal detention center and are scheduled to appear Feb. 7 at the Cook County courthouse in Bridgeview on the battery charges.
