A Burbank man was charged with felony criminal damage to property after punching a water sprinkler at a River North nightclub early Friday, police said.
Samuel Clucas, 27, of the 8000 block of South Nagle Avenue, intentionally struck a water sprinkler head with his hand, causing substantial water damage at Spy Bar, a nightclub in the 600 block of North Franklin Street in Chicago, police said. The club was scheduled to have a 15th anniversary party Friday night.
Police did not know why Clucas punched the sprinkler. According to initial reports, he may have been involved in a fight at the club before the incident, which occurred about 1:30 a.m.
Clucas was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing Saturday.
