Blaze damages empty house in Harvey

A recently vacated rental house caught fire Sunday morning in Harvey.
Firefighters said the blaze started in the basement area where the furnace and hot water heater are in the house in the 15300 block of Honore Avenue.
Fire damage was contained to the basement, but other areas of the one-story house sustained smoke and water damage. The one-story house was unoccupied because it had been vacated last week by the last tenant, a fire official said.
The cause of the blaze had not been determined.
