A teenage pedestrian was struck by a semi truck late Tuesday morning near his high school on Chicago’s southwest side.
A male in his late teens was struck by a semi just after 11 a.m. near 50th and Archer near Curie Metro High School, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Curie is located at 4959 S. Archer.
He was taken to a hospital and appeared in “very serious” condition, Mirabelli said.
Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said the pedestrian -- a student at Curie High School -- was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious to critical condition.
The Major Accident Investigation Unit was still on the scene investigating, and it was unknown if any citations would be issued, police said.
The CTA has rerouted the northbound No. 62 Archer buses as the investigation continues. Buses will run around the scene via Pulaski, 55th, Lawndale and Archer. Southbound buses are not affected.
