Rachel’s Challenge to visit H-F
January 24, 2012 10:44PM
A representative of Rachel’s Challenge will give presentations to students, parents and the public Thursday at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, 999 Kedzie Ave., Flossmoor.
Rachel’s Challenge was created by the family of Rachel Scott, the first student killed in the shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999.
The presentations will focus on the Columbine incident, Rachel’s life and the goals of Rachel’s Challenge, which tries to empower people to create permanent culture change in schools, businesses and communities.
A presentation will be given to the school’s junior and senior classes at 8 a.m., and a second one will be open to parents and the public at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
H-F’s Friends of Rachel Club, formed in 2006, resulted in the school being named the Rachel’s Challenge School of the Year in 2010.
