The Federal Bureau of Investigation is searching for a man they believe is involved in a crime spree that started Dec. 18 and includes bank robberies and stolen credit cards in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 40s or 50s, wearing light-colored jeans, tan work books, aviator sunglasses, and a blue or black winter toboggan hat. He was seen driving a 2010-2011 white Nissan Maxima with a sunroof and Illinois license plates, with possible damage to a taillight on rear driver’s side.
On Jan. 9, he is suspected of robbing the U.S. Bank in Lansing. The man was involved in the Jan. 12 armed bank robbery at the Fifth Third Bank, 8007 Calumet Ave., Munster, where he displayed a handgun. He also is suspected in a South Bend bank robbery and one in Toledo, Ohio, which occurred Thursday.
The locations of the crimes led police to believe he commits his crimes near Interstate 80/94.
The man is suspected in five robberies of a person, including one in which a firearm was displayed, four fraud activities related to his use of credit cards stolen from the victims, and four armed bank robberies in three states.
Anyone with information can contact the FBI, Indianapolis Division, at (317) 595-4000.
