Two men are facing burglary charges after allegedly taking $9,700 in merchandise from Ulta Cosmetics in Orland Park, police announced in a press release issued Wednesday.
Edward J. Vasquez, 26, 3659 Marshfield, and Angel Padilla, 23, 3636 S. Wolcott, both of Chicago, have been charged with burglary, police said. Bond was set at $50,000, police said.
Orland Park police said they responded to a burglar alarm at the store located at 15754 LaGrange Road on Jan. 30 and observed a light-colored sport utility vehicle in front of the store and the front door glass of the business shattered.
Three people ran toward the vehicle carrying large white bags from Ulta, police said. Two of them got into the vehicle that then fled north on LaGrange Road in the southbound lanes and threw merchandise out the windows, police said.
The third person, who was masked and wearing gloves, carried a large white bag and attempted to run, police said. He was apprehended following a brief foot chase, police said. The bag contained colognes and perfumes from Ulta, police said.
Burbank police then observed an abandoned SUV in the 6000 block of 55th Street where another man was apprehended, police said.
Two others fled into back yards, police said.
