One man was killed and five others were injured in a head-on crash in Crestwood Monday night.

Two vehicles struck each other head on at Rivercrest Drive and Cicero Avenue about 10:35 p.m., Crestwood Fire Chief Jon Bruce said.

A 2000 Ford Focus was driving erratically north on Cicero Avenue and crossed into the southbound lanes causing the collision, according to a release from Crestwood police

One of the drivers — identified as 26-year-old Kurt Bardelli, of Oak Lawn — was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Bruce said.

Bardelli, of the 5700 block of Circle Drive, was pronounced dead there at 11 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was the driver of the Focus, police said.

A Tuesday autopsy found he died of multiple injuries from the crash and ruled his death an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Five adults in the other car were taken to Christ Hospital, MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island and Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Bruce said. Two were in serious condition, and the other three were in good condition.

Crestwood police declined to comment on the accident.
