NEW LENOX — A flaming truckload of candy bars closed part of Interstate 80 for hours early Tuesday.
State police Sgt. Martez Malone said a 1:20 a.m. the westbound semi-tractor trailer ignited just west of Route 30, but the driver was able to escape without injury.
New Lenox firefighters extinguished the burning vehicle, which Fire Chief Jon Mead said contained Snickers and M&M’s.
The right lanes of the interstate were blocked for several hours as debris was removed, reopening shortly before 9 a.m.
