A two-story home in Tinley Park sustained extensive damage but no one was hurt when a fire broke out Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The Tinley Park Fire Department responded at about 3:20 p.m. to a 911 call about a fire in the 9300 block of West 183rd Street, assistant Fire Chief Paul Cummins said.
Everyone was out of the home when firefighters arrived, and the fire was under control within 10 minutes, Cummins said.
The cause of the fire was unknown but appeared to have started upstairs, where the damage likely was extensive enough to make the home temporarily uninhabitable, Cummins said.
Family members declined to comment.
A witness said a pet guinea pig was rescued but firefighters were searching for two other pets.
