Georgia driver killed when semi crashes into Calumet City house

A Georgia truck driver was killed early Thursday after crashing into a house in Calumet City.

The accident happened about 12:52 a.m. near the intersection of Michigan City Road and Torrence Avenue when a semitruck crashed into a building, an area dispatcher said.

The driver was identified as Joseph Foster, 37, of Talmo, Ga., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The accident happened at Michigan City Road near Henry Street, and he was dead at the scene, the medical examiner’s office said.

At least one other person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to an emergency official.
