A female pedestrian was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition Thursday after she was struck by a pickup truck about 8 a.m. while crossing Southwest Highway west of Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn, officials said.

Acting Fire Battalion Chief Rob Wesselhoff said the accident occurred in the eastbound turn lane, as the driver of the pickup was traveling from northbound Cicero Avenue to eastbound Southwest Highway.

The driver remained on the scene, he said.

The pedestrian had no identification, Wesselhoff said. But a friend of the injured girl’s family said she was a student at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School.

Cicero Avenue was closed between Southwest Highway and 95th Street for several hours as police conducted an accident reconstruction investigation, police said.
