The death of an 18-year-old man whom authorities found shot in the chest in his home has been ruled a homicide, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said after an autopsy was conducted Friday.
At about 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, South Holland Police received a call of shots fired in the 14700 block of East Riverside Drive, said South Holland Police Chief Warren Millsaps.
Responding police found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest, Millsaps said, and paramedics took the man to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, where he was pronounced dead.
The medical examiner’s office identified the man as 18-year-old Depareyon Temple.
Millsaps said investigators were interviewing “numerous” witnesses and persons of interest.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force was assisting in the investigation, Millsaps said.
