Sticky Chicago sees first of forecast three straight days in the 90s

Summer doesn’t begin till Wednesday, but Monday brought Chicago the first of what could be three straight days of high temperatures in the 90s. The temperature reached 94 degrees at 2:52 p.m. , short of the year’s highest temperature so far of 97 degrees on May 27. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a high in the mid-90s Tuesday and low 90s on Wednesday. Making things worse Monday was that the heat and humidity were hard to escape, even by the lake. The hottest day on record for the date in Chicago is 98, in 1954. Since 2007, the average temperature for June 18 has been 84.
