Cook Co. forest district seeks input on recreational offerings

Updated: August 25, 2012 6:11AM

Seeking input on what it should offer in the way of future recreational opportunities, the Cook County Forest Preserve District is conducting an online survey through Aug. 10.

It has been decades since the forest preserve district took a formal look at its offerings, and it is creating a recreation master plan to enhance existing opportunities and develop new ones.

“We want to provide innovative, creative recreational opportunities that not only introduce people to the forest preserves but keep them coming back, to experience nature and enjoy any one of the hundreds of activities we’ve been offering for decades,” general Supt. Arnold Randall said. “It just may be time to add something fresh — we don’t know what yet. We’re looking to the residents of Cook County to help us shape what that looks like.”

To view the survey, which also seeks input on new facilities, visit www.fpdcc.com/recreation-master-plan. It takes only a few minutes to complete, the forest preserve district said.

The district also will host public meetings in September and January. Details will be posted on the same website.
