An 88-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was attacked Monday in the parking lot of an Orland Park Walgreens store by a man who stole her car, police said.
A man mugged the woman about 2:20 p.m. after she parked her 2007 Buick Lucerne at the Walgreens in the 7900 block of West 159th Street, according to a release from Orland Park police.
The man grabbed the woman’s purse and keys, kicked her in the leg and struck her in the chest with the door as he opened it, police said. He drove off northbound on 80th Avenue.
The woman was taken to Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights for treatment of her leg injury, police said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s, 5-foot-8 and weighing 150 pounds, police said. He has a thin build with shoulder-length, wavy, dark hair and a “few days’ ” worth of facial hair growth. He last was seen wearing a black shirt with red writing on the front.
No weapon was displayed, nor did the suspect indicate he had a weapon, police said.
Police also still are looking for the tan, four-door vehicle, which has a license plate of G40 9830.
Anyone who sees the vehicle is asked to call 911 and report the location.
