Chicago Ridge man dies after Southwest Side crash

A Chicago Ridge man critically injured Monday night when a car hit a tree in Chicago’s Lawn community died Tuesday morning, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Walid Abuasba, 49, of the 5700 block of Ridgemont Lane, was hurt in the crash near the intersection of West Columbus Avenue and South Western Avenue, according to the medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 6:01 a.m. Tuesday, the medical examiner’s office said.
The car split in half as a result of the crash, which happened at 8:29 p.m., officials said.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating, according to police, who had no details on what caused the crash. Sun-Times Media Wire
