Crime tip hot line up in New Lenox

New Lenox police have set up a crime tip hotline, allowing the public to anonymously report criminal activity.
The number is (815) 462-6111.
Callers will be asked to leave a message that provides as much information as possible, including date, time and location of the crime as well as a description of the suspects.
New Lenox police said this anonymous hot line will assist them in fighting crime by relieving fears of retaliation and feelings of indifference.
Police hope it will:
Increase the community’s involvement in providing crime tip information to police.
Improve dissemination of tip information in a timely manner.
Initiate investigations and increase arrests with the upsurge of citizen tip information.
