A stretch of Harlem Avenue just north of 171st Street in Tinley Park is expected to be reduced to one lane in each direction from Aug. 20 until late September because of construction.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is installing a new bridge overlay on Harlem over Midlothian Creek. Weather permitting, the project will begin Aug. 20, IDOT said.
Access to residences, businesses and side streets north and south of the creek will be maintained, according to IDOT, which estimates the project will be completed Sept. 28.
Motorists should anticipate delays and allow extra time for trips through the area, IDOT said.
Austin Tyler Construction, of Elwood, is the prime contractor on the $186,000 project.
