The Cook County Forest Preserve District is seeking public feedback on its new camping master plan in a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Little Red School House Nature Center, 9800 S. 104th Ave., near Willow Springs.
To view the plan and discuss it online, visit www.fpdcc.com/camping at 1 p.m. Thursday.
The final version, incorporating public comments, will be done in October. Work on the camping program is expected to begin in 2013.
Suggestions in the plan include:
Renovation of the cabins and barn at Camp Sullivan near Tinley Park and demolition of existing cabins at Camp Falcon near Tinley Park.
Construction of two bunkhouses, each to sleep 32 people, at Shabbona Woods, adjacent to the Sand Ridge Nature Center near South Holland.
Creation of a “Legacy” campground site along Bullfrog Lake in Pulaski Woods near Willow Springs that would include a lodge to sleep 80 people, 12 family camping cabins and tent platforms.
