The Fourth Annual Wounded Warrior Motorcycle Run is set for Sunday, with motorcycles scheduled to leave Mokena at 11 a.m. en route to a celebration in Wilmington.
The ride will honor 11 local Wounded Warriors, according to Mike Cozzi, executive director of the Illinois Veterans Foundation.
The cost is $15 per person, and an after-ride celebration at the ASIP Local 150 Training Center, at 19800 Arsenal Road in Wilmington, will include beer, food, prizes, entertainment and other vendors.
The lineup starts at 8 a.m. at the Local 597 Pipefitters’ Training Center at 10850 W. 187th St. in Mokena. At 11 a.m., participants will leave, following Wolf Road south to Steger Road, then from U.S. 45 to Wilmington-Peotone Road, to Chicago Road, and finally to Arsenal Road. Supporters are encouraged to cheer on the riders and the honorees, who will be in the procession in cars.
Last year, more than 1,200 motorcycles participated in the ride from New Lenox to the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, according to organizers.
