A Lansing man arranged to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old girl for sex, but it was an undercover police officer, the FBI announced Tuesday.
Martin N. Pazdzuira, 45, of 18525 Stony Island Ave., was charged with a felony count of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a release from the FBI.
The agency received a tip that Pazdzuira had photos of nude girls who appeared to be minors on his cell phone, the FBI said. He also allegedly claimed he had traveled by train to Chicago three times to have sex with underage girls he met on an Internet chat site.
Pazdzuira, whose Internet name was “redone2150,” began chatting and texting with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl on Aug. 10, but it was actually a Cook County Sheriff’s officer, the FBI said.
Pazdzuira arranged to meet the “girl” on Friday so they could travel together to a hotel in Indiana to have sex, the FBI alleges. He was arrested near the planned meeting place in Forest Park.
Pazdzuira is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court on Friday. He faces a mandatory sentence of at least 10 years in prison if convicted.
