Illinois 83 will be closed just east of LaGrange Road for about two months starting in mid-September as the bridge over Mill Creek is replaced, the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a news release.
The project is scheduled to begin Sept. 17, weather permitting, and the estimated completion date is Nov. 21, IDOT said.
A detour will direct motorists coming from the west to LaGrange Road to access 123rd Street and Southwest Highway to reconnect with Illinois 83, IDOT said.
Access to residences, businesses and side streets east and west of Mill Creek will be maintained.
Motorists should anticipate delays and allow extra time for trips through the area, IDOT said, and the agency requests that motorists obey the speed limit, observe closure signs and remain alert for workers.
Austin Tyler Construction, of Elwood, is the primary contractor on the $980,000 project, IDOT said.
