A pair of fundraisers to benefit Disabled American Veterans and Operation Care Package will be held Saturday at New Lenox VFW Post 9545, 323 Old Hickory Road.
The dual event kicks off at 11 a.m. with a pig roast and raffle for Disabled American Veterans.
Tickets are $20 per person and include a raffle ticket, food and beverages, horseshoes and bean bag games, and a disc jockey from noon to 3 p.m. Children under 12 are free.
From 3 to 6 p.m., the public can support Operation Care Package by recording a video greeting to send to the troops. The goal is to create 100 DVDs.
Prayer packages to send will be available to buy, offering a variety of supportive and uplifting Bible verses.
The main event is a performance of the Reprieve Blues Band, from 5 to 9 p.m. In lieu of a cover charge, a donation to Operation Care Package will be accepted.
Anyone donating an item off the wish list also will receive one free ticket for a door prize.
Wish list items include beef jerky, canned chili, soup, tuna, salmon or ravioli, hot cocoa packages, toothbrushes and toothpaste, lip balm and personal hygiene items.
Monetary donations to cover the cost of shipping also will be accepted.
