Homewood police and FBI agents on Thursday were searching for a man who they believe pulled off his second bank robbery in the south suburbs in less than a month.
FBI officials believe the man who robbed a TCF Bank in South Chicago Heights on Aug. 12 also robbed the TCF Bank inside the Jewel-Osco food store, 17705 S. Halsted St. in Homewood, shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday, FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said.
In both incidents, the robber displayed no weapon but showed the teller a note and verbally demanded money, Hyde said. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he left the bank on foot.
He is described as a heavy-set black man, about 5-foot-8 to 5-10, with a beard.
Anyone with information about the robbery, or any robbery featured on the Bandit Tracker website — www.bandittrackerchicago.com — is asked to call local police or the FBI’s Chicago office at (312) 421-6700.
