Chicago police said they have found a car they believed hit an officer early Thursday in the Chatham community on the South Side.
About 12:30 a.m., the Gresham District officer was standing outside his squad car and interviewing someone as part of an investigation, authorities said. A vehicle, believed to be a green Cadillac, hit the officer and then sped off, according to police.
Paramedics took the officer in stable condition to an area hospital, police news Affairs Officer Amina Greer said, adding that his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police later found a car matching the description of the one that hit the officer near the intersection of 79th Street and Prairie Avenue, police said. No one was inside.
