Petition circulation to begin for local candidates

Nonpartisan candidates for seats in the April 9, 2013 consolidated election can begin circulating nominating petitions Tuesday.
Municipal, township, park, library, school and fire board seats are at stake.
Candidates must file their petitions between Dec. 17 and 24.
The names of candidates who collect enough legitimate signatures will appear on the ballot in the order in which their nominating papers are received. If two or more petitions are filed at the same time, a lottery will be held no later than Jan. 2 to determine ballot position.
