The death of an infant girl Sunday is being investigated by child welfare workers.
Three-week-old Kahara Wilson was found unresponsive by her mom in their home in the 12100 block of Vincennes Road in Blue Island at 6:26 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Kahara was taken to Metro South Medical Center in Blue Island, where she was pronounced dead, the medical examiner’s office said.
Officials at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating allegations of neglect against Karaha’s mother, agency spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said. Kahara’s family has not been the subject of any investigations by DCFS in the past, Whitelow said.
